Reference CD Operating Instructions

If CD does not automatically start:

Click Start > Run and navigate to (cd drive):\index.htm

..or..

Open Internet Explorer and click File > Open > Browse and navigate to (cd drive):\index.htm

When accessing downloaded versions or updates saved on your hard drive, substitute (cd drive) for the folder you created on your PC such as c:\67cd\index.htm. Alternately, you can create a shortcut on your desktop to the appropriate index.htm file (assuming the file extension of .htm is associated with your favorite browser).

This CD is Internet-browser based. Recommended is Microsoft Internet Explorer with a screen resolution set to a minimum of 1024x768 with 1280x1024 or higher being preferred. It has been tested with Internet Explorer 6 & 7, Firefox & Opera and Windows 2000, Windows XP Pro w/Service Pack 3 and Windows Vista Home & Business operating systems.

Java-based menu system does not play well with Mozilla Firefox or Opera, Internet Explorer is highly recommended.

If you use a pop-up blocker the pop-up windows showing larger photos may not work properly and you may need to disable the feature. Security features in Internet Explorer V7 may also cause the CD to not operate properly and display a warning concerning Active Content. This can be resolved by allowing active content to be run from CDs. In Internet Explorer, select Tools > Internet Options then the Advanced tab. You must check the box next to "Allow active content from CDs to run on My Computer". If you copy the contents of the CD to your local hard drive then the next box "Allow active content to run in files on My Computer" must be checked.

It’s been found that occasionally two browser windows or tabs will open when the program automatically starts. This has occurred with Windows XP running Internet Explorer 7 as the default browser. This is generally an effect of how your computer is set up to 'Autoplay' when a CD or DVD is inserted in the drive. This causes no harm, just close one of the browser’s windows or tabs. If you are running AOL and using their browser as the default, the Java-based menus may not work and you should use Internet Explorer as your default browser.

This CD uses frames to keep the menu on the screen at all times except when a link opens a new page. Links to external sources require an Internet connection and are not guaranteed to available at future dates as they may change. Otherwise the CD is entirely self contained and may be viewed without an active Internet connection.

If you discover an error in an internal link, a photo that does not display, spelling errors, etc. please be as specific as possible about the location when reporting these problems. If there is a problem on an individual page you can right-click the page, select Properties, and determine the page name to report the problem.
